Hi. I’m Michael Comer, a fifth generation Charlottesville, VA native. After honing my skills at established organizations, I founded Wakefield Communications, a full-service design agency, to offer marketing and communication services geared towards helping individual clients set themselves apart in a crowded digital environment and ultimately create value in their own marketplaces.
I bring a wide array of professional experience to my work as Wakefield's principal.
On Capitol Hill, I supported our nation's leaders with innovative digital communication strategies. I designed graphics/print collateral and produced videos widely distributed by House Committees and House Majority Leadership.
In Crozet Virginia, I founded a homemade ice cream shop and called it Crozet Creamery. I led brand development, equipment procurement, recipe creation, ingredient sourcing, shop design, construction, employee hiring and training, marketing, and day-to-day operations management. I leveraged my graphic design skills to significantly save on startup costs by designing the logo, website, social media pages, menu boards, apparel, custom cups, promotional materials, and more.
I hold a B.A. from James Madison University, where I doubled majored in Political Science & Communication Studies and graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
I am a TV news, Apple, PGA Tour, entrepreneurship, Ellen DeGeneres (her stand up), and political fanatic—plus, an avid golfer, kayaker, skier, and biography reader.
I am excited to hear about your project. Let's get creative together!
